Behind Every Great Man.....

I got the cutest email yesterday....

One night President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to do something out of routine and go for a casual dinner at a restaurant that wasn't too luxurious.

When they were seated, the owner of the restaurant asked the president's secret service if he could please speak to the First Lady in private. They obliged and Michelle had a conversation with the owner.

Following this conversation President Obama asked Michelle, why was he so interested in talking to you. She mentioned that in her teenage years, he had been madly in love with her.
President Obama then said, "so if you had married him, you would now be the owner of this lovely restaurant" , to which Michelle responded, "no, if I had married him, he would now be President".

Not sure if this is an urban myth... or the truth, regardless, I know we all can agree and say, you go girl!!

POLITICAL WOMAN: GO VOTE

Political Woman
by Lauren Evette Williams
(an adaptation of Phenonemal Woman by Maya Angelou)

Apathetic women wonder just where my secret lies
I’m not necessarily a great orator, a great philosopher, and my speech is not always wise
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It’s the strength of my passion
My time and dedication
My constant fight for what is right
And the hope of true female emancipation
For I am a woman
Politically
Politcal Woman, That’s Me

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
Surrounded by other women activists
Working together towards unity
Some question our power, our validity
And still fail to completely see.
I say
It’s the fire in our eyes
The conviction of our voice
The importance of our message
And the power of our electoral choice

For we are women
Politically
And I, a Politcal Woman, That’s Me

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I may shout. I may jump about
For I say, Why Not Women, Why Not Now
When you see my passing down the government halls
You should join me, For It ought to make u proud
I say
It's the effect of our advocacy
The mobilization of our partners
The strategy of our phone banking
And the collaboration of our efforts
For we are women
Politically
And I, a Politcal Woman, That’s Me

We've Done the WORK... NOW Go Out and VOTE!!!!
