EVENT: Fashion for PAWS
April 9, 2011

Washington, DC – On April 9, 2011 from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. the 5th annual Fashion for Paws (F4P) Runway Show event created by Syzygy Event Productions will take place at the National Building Museum to benefit the Washington Humane Society (WHS). This year, the event will be Co-Chaired by Amanda Polk and Dr. Dondi Dahlgaard. The Executive Committee will be Co-Chaired by Tommy McFly and Wendy Gordon, with Windy Shepard as the Committee Fundraising Chair. The Mistress of Ceremonies will again be Pamela Sorensen.

On Thursday, February 3rd, Teatro Goldoni restaurant hosted the annual Kick-Off Reception to mark the launch of the new 2011 F4P Runway Show website with tickets/tables going on sale and the start of the model fundraising competition. This year, coinciding with the F4P fundraising launch, Georgetown Cupcake will sell a new line of F4P inspired cupcakes in all locations from February 3rd through April 9th, donating 100% of the proceeds to WHS.

F4P began in 2007 and has raised more than $1 million dollars for WHS so far, infusing the nation’s capital with cutting edge high fashion, drawing an extraordinary crowd of VIPs, fashion lovers and animal lovers alike. The fashion show and fundraising event features 60 notable personalities as the models on the runway. F4P includes 3 different categories of models walking the runway, with the heart and soul of F4P being the category comprised of fundraising models who must raise a minimum of $3000 in order to walk in the show and also participate in a friendly fundraising competition.

Tysons Galleria retailer’s Saks Fifth Avenue, Betsey Johnson, Seven for All Mankind, Karen Millen, Ermenegildo Zegna, Nicole Miller, Basler, Liljenquist & Beckstead, Cole Haan, Aram and more, will dominate the runway on April 9th as Musical Host, Seyhan Duru, rocks the runway with his musical melodies. Makeup will be done by Chanel and hair will be styled by Toka Salon & Spa. Aba Kwawu will be behind the scenes again this year working to organize the styling of the models and the run of the fashion show, a challenging task considering that there are more than 65 models and more than 10 retailers on this year’s runway. Canine Couture will be created by Barkley Square Gourmet Dog Bakery & Boutique as well as WagTime, and will be in keeping with the designs worn by the two-legged models on the runway.
For more information and a full list of 2011 models, committee members and sponsors please visit: http://www.washhumane.org/F4P and click on the Annual Runway Show (launching 2/3/11) call or e-mail the media contact above.

All proceeds from Fashion for Paws benefit the Washington Humane Society (WHS). WHS, the only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the United States, has been the Washington, DC area’s leading voice for animals since 1870. As the only open-access shelter in the Nation’s Capital, WHS provides comfort and care to nearly 30,000 animals each year through its broad range of programs and services including sheltering, adoption, spay and neuter, CatNiPP, humane law enforcement, lost and found, human–animal therapy programs and humane education in city schools.
